There seems to be a hundred ways promised to solve erectile dysfunction.
Most people go straight to the pill solution. That's understandable. Prescription medications have helped millions of men, and I'm not here to shame anyone for using them. But they aren't the only path. Like any medication, they can have side effects and may not be appropriate for everyone, especially men with certain cardiovascular conditions or those taking nitrate medications.
Then there are the natural approaches. Supplements. Ginger. L-arginine. Beetroot. Exercise. Better sleep. Weight loss. Stress reduction. Many of these have evidence behind them, and I cover several of them in my book because improving your overall health almost always improves your sexual health.
There is no shortage of advice.
What surprises me is what's missing from the conversation.
You rarely hear anyone talk about the prostate.
The prostate is usually discussed only when something is wrong. Enlarged prostate. Prostate cancer. PSA tests. Yet very few people are willing to explore the role it may play in sexual function and pleasure.
Research suggests that prostate stimulation can increase blood flow throughout the pelvic and urogenital region. Blood flow is one of the key ingredients of healthy erectile function. Many men also report stronger erections, heightened arousal, and a renewed sense of sexual energy following regular prostate stimulation. While these experiences vary from person to person, the pattern is hard to ignore.
I've experienced it myself.
For me, it creates a positive feedback loop. Stimulate the prostate, my libido climbs, erections become stronger, and that increased sexual energy feeds back into the desire to stay sexually active. The more I pay attention to that part of my body, the better everything else seems to work.
This becomes especially meaningful after 40, when many men begin to notice their drive isn't quite what it used to be. It's a lot like going to the gym. The more consistently you put in the work, the better your body responds, and the more momentum you build.
Is prostate stimulation a cure for erectile dysfunction?
No. Erectile dysfunction can have many causes, including vascular disease, diabetes, nerve damage, hormonal imbalances, medication side effects, anxiety, depression, and relationship issues. Those deserve proper evaluation by a qualified healthcare professional.
But I do think prostate stimulation deserves a place in the conversation.
If I were a doctor with a prescription pad, I know exactly what I'd write:
"Stimulate your prostate three times a week."
Not because it's a miracle cure.
Because for many men, it may be one more natural tool that helps improve blood flow, reconnect them with their bodies, and restore confidence in their sexual health.
Sometimes the answer isn't another pill.
Sometimes it's discovering a part of your own body that no one ever taught you about.
